Click on the photos to get more information on the dogs .. "Lorgair" is Scottish Gaelic for "a dog who follows scent." Golden Retrievers being Gun Dogs, use their nose a lot and since Golden Retrievers originated in the Scotland Highlands, it seemed fit to use the Scottish Gaelic. Lorgair Golden Retrievers is a selective kennel breeding closely to the English lines, Stanroph being my main foundation line. The puppies all tend to have that "Stanroph smile". Stanroph Kennels was the No. 1 Golden Retriever kennel in the UK for 11 of the past 12 years and has produced some lovely Goldens. (notes on line-breeding) Photos of the Guisachan Gathering where the Golden Retriever was "invented" by Lord Tweedmouth. Emphasis is on good temperament and sound, overall construction enabling the breed to perform the many activities that Goldens are capable of. The original Golden Retrievers tended to be a wonderful rich golden colour which I personally love. However, the best confirmation in a litter is not always the dark pup and the lighter pigment tends to be the dominate gene. (breed-standard) There will usually be puppy litter(s) each year. "The Boys" on the Stud Dog page are available at stud to approved bitches and you may enquire about frozen semen. But mainly we exist to have fun, enjoy our New Zealand "lifestyle" and take part in regional dog events. Some of us live with other people too.
